TheatreMania Africa Festival (TAF) AWARDS
TheatreMania Africa Festival (TAF) is the first all-encompassing annual All Africa Theatre Awards platform that rewards and appreciates African stage artistes/actors and other stakeholders in the Theatrical space.
It is a reward system meant to appreciate and showcase the best of African Theatre on stage, on the street and on all different platforms.
WHY DO WE NEED THE TAF AWARDS?
We are not oblivious that today, there are several reward properties in terms of awards to appreciate African Artistes, Musicians and Acts but we are bold to say that there is no specific and all-encompassing award that recognizes theatre stakeholders and players in Africa.
Our focus is to create a Pan African Theatre Awards for all stakeholders in Africa just like TONY Awards as a reputable reward platform appreciating acts of the Broadway in the US and all over for more than 70 years now.
Hence, there is an important need to create an enviable and popularly acceptable REWARD SYSTEM for African THESPIANS especially those who focuses on stage productions majorly.
That is the lacuna and gap TAF Awards has come to fill God willing, with all our support, we can create an annual reward system that will be enviable, acceptable and well accepted across Africa.

TheatreMania Africa Festival (TAF) Awards is calling for submission of entries from all thespians, playwrights, directors, producers, actors, designers and all theatre companies across Africa to submit their groundbreaking works for TAF Award consideration.
TAF Awards… celebrating creativity, innovation and artistic prowess.
ELIGIBILITY
(a) Eligible for submission are all theatrically produced and showcased works on stage between January 2023 and July, 2025.
(b) All African actors/actress and stakeholders across and beyond Africa are eligible to parricipate.
(c) Prepare a full HD video coverage (camera or via a quality phone) of the stage productions that represent the category to be entered.
(d) Log on to www.theatremaniaafrica.com/awards to see all the categories of awards and fill the submission form.
(e) Upload the link of your full HD video of relevant submission (Youtube/Google drive).
(f) Submission of entries closes on August 30, 2025
AWARD CATEGORIES
(1) Best Play of the Year – this is the biggest category where we reward the best play of the year across the continent.
(2) Best Actor of the Year – this is where we reward the Best Actor overall on the continent.
(3) Best Actress of the Year – here we want to appreciate the Best actress in the continent.
(4) Discovery of the Year – this is the category where we encourage a new actor/actress who made an impression on stage throughout the year.
(5) Best Artistic Director of the Year – this is where we reward the Best Artistic Director in the continent.
(6) Best Producer of the Year – this is where we reward the Best Producer in the continent.
(7) Best Well Lighted Production – here we want to take a curious look at the best well lighted stage production in the continent.
(8) Best Costume of the year – here we look at the best costume for a theatrical Production.
(9) Best Contemporary Dance Group of the Year – this is the category where we look at the Dance Group with a lot of creative contemporary routines yet not losing their African touches.
(10) Best Traditional Dance Group of the Year – this is the category where we look at the Dance Group with a lot of creative traditional routines on stage.
(11) Best Script Writer of the Year – this is where we reward Best Script in the continent.
(12) Best Stage Design of the Year – here we want to look at the firm/individual who gave the best stage effect design in any play across the continent.
(13) Best Musical Play of the Year – this is the category where we reward the best musical stage play across.
(14) Best Africa Diaspora Stage Production of the Year – this is the category where we reward the best Africa Diaspora Stage production.
(15) Best Actor in a Supporting Role – this is the category where we look at the actor who has thrived in a supporting role on stage.
(16) Best Actress in a Supporting Role – this is the category where we look at the actress who has thrived in a supporting role on stage.
(17) Best Artistic Director of the Year – this is where we reward Best Artistic Director in the continent•
(18) Best Theatre Company of the Year – this is the category where we look at the most outstanding theatre group across the continent.
(19) Most Outstanding Child Actor of the Year – this is the category where we look at the most outstanding child actor/actress across the continent.
(20) TheatreManiac of the Year – this is the category where we look at screen actors who still actively participate in Theatre Productions with passion.
(21) Best Theatre/Arts/Creative Writer/Reporter of the Year– this is the category where we look at writers/reporters who devotes columns and reports theatre/Arts/Creative pieces in Newspapers, online and on TV.
(22) LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD – these are three individuals who have contributed immensely to the development of stage play and theatre in Africa. The three will now be inducted into the THEATREMANIA AFRICA FESTIVAL (TAF) HALL OF FAME.
